The Karas family in a Russian city faces turmoil. Colonel Karas is a military man, Larisa is a gynecologist, Veronica is a graduate student and unhappy lover, and Andriy is a womanizer needing to marry urgently to secure a larger apartment. Despite his efforts, Andriy’s exes refuse, but he eventually falls for Sonya, an unattractive girl who loves him. Meanwhile, Colonel Karas indulges in hunting, fishing, and women, while Larisa, dissatisfied with her marriage, considers leaving for another man. The family is entangled in complex emotions, reminiscent of Hamlet, with an uncertain resolution.
